BOWLING.
Entries for the Auckland Bowling Association pennant competition close with the hon. secretary, Mr. Osmond, at the rooms of tho Auckland Amateur Sports Club this evening. The competition commences on Saturday next, February 3, and some of the club teams selected to take part have been indulging in practice during the past week or two.
The Selection Committee of the Mount Eden Club have chosen the teams for the pennant competition, and on the whole appear to have done the work very well. They appear, however, to have overlooked one or two players who in the opinion of many should have found a place beforo several of those who are included. Possibly the members have notified their inability to take part; if not, then it is extremely difficult to understand why they are not in the teams. On recent form Walton should unquestionably have been one of the first selected, either as a lead or No. 2. His drawing to the bare jack has been quite equal to anything seen on the green this season, yet his name is not to be found among the chosen ones. Anothei player who should have been considered is Walker, one of the most consistent of the Mount Eden Club leads. He has, it is true, been spending a few weeks by tho seaside and consequently has not been on the green for a week or two, but I am confident that had he been selected he would have proved a stronger lead than some of those chosen. MOUNT EDEN BOWLING CLUB. The following teams have been selected to play on the Mount Eden green this afternoon : Miller, Kissell, Simpson, Surman, v. Culpan, Nicholson, Walton, Pooley; McGregor, Esam, Tuts, Merce. v. Ren wick, Robertson, Little, Maekay; Wooller, Wickham, C. C. Baker, Young v. W. P. Baker, J. O.
