THE FIRST PASSENGER TRAIN. By Telegraph —Preas Association Copyright. (Received January 26, 11 p.m.) Rome, January 26. The first passenger train has passed through the Simplon Tunnel. This great work consists of two parallel tunnels 66,0C0ft long. The distance between them is 57ft, and connection are made every 670 ft. One tunnel is used for ventilation. There is a terminus at Breig, in Switzerland, and the Italian end is at Iselle. The work was begun in 1898. In 1904 and 1905 the work was greatly interfered with by the outbreak of hot springs. But for the difficulties thus created the tunnel would have been in use some months ago.
