WESTLAND'S BRIGHT PROSPECTS.
[by telegraph:press ASSOCIATION*.]
Hokitika, Saturday. Mr. Mark Cohen, editor of the Dunedin Star, in the course of an interview, spoke in most glowing terms of the future of Westland, after his three weeks stay. He recognises that it has a great future as a tourist resort, feeling sure that the attractions of South West-land, when fully known, will draw an unending stream of visitors. He is surprised to find the district to be one of such great promise, and considers it worthy of the fullest development. He speaks hopefully of the West-land-Olago railway materialising from a dream to a reality, and thinks the Government might do worse than send a Parliamentary excursion through South Westland into Otago, so that members could gee the country and its great natural resources for themselves. He applauds the appointment of the chief surveyor (Mr. Roberts) as the West Coast' commissioner for the international Exhibition, and believes that if properly supported by the Government and the local bodies the West-land Court can be made second to none.
