PREMIER IN WESTLAND.
PRESENTATION TO MRS. &EDDON.
INTERESTING CEREMONIES.

Westpokt, Saturday. The Premier and Minister for Lands arrived in Westport from ReefUn last evening, and had an enthusiastic reception. They were entertained at a crowded social, at which Mrs. Seddou was presented with a jewel casket by the ladies of the Buller district. Mr. Seddon delivered a political address, and Mr. Duncan also spoke., The Premier turned the first sod of the Westport-Inangahua Junction railway this forenoon, in the presence of a large assemblage, and was presented by the Mayor with a gold spade, wheelbarrow, and inkstand. Speeches were made by the Premier, the Hon. T. Duncan, Mr. Colvin, and local public men. This afternoon the Premier unveiled the fallen troopers' memorial in the public square. There was a great gathering of volunteers, bands, friendly societies, and the public. Mr. Seddon and party leave for Greymouth to-morrow.
