TROUBLE AT SHANGHAI.
NOVEL CHINESE PROTEST. By Telegraph. Association.—Copyright. (Received December 13, 9.21 p.m.) Shanghai, December 13. Owing to a dispute arising from the system of mixed jurisdiction, a number of Chinese at Shanghai have resolved to present to-day a number of dollar notes, hoping thus to cause a run on the Hongkong-Shanghai Bank, with the object of compelling the dismissal of obnoxious British assessors of the mixed Court. The native bankers have refused to assist in the scheme, and advise that only peaceful methods should be followed.
