WESLEY AN DISTRICT SYNOD.
The annual sessions of the Aucklpr.d Wes-le-yan District Synod were opened in the Pitt-street schoolroom at- half-past nine yesterday morning, under the chairmanship of the Roy. C. 11. Garland. The following ministers were present: — The Revs. W. Gittps, W. J. Watkin, Jno. Law, W. H. Beck, J. 11. Simmonds, J. J. Lewis, J. A. Luxford, C. Penney, C. Griffin, J. T. Pinfold, W. Slade, S. Griffith, B. F. Rothwell, 11. Tavlor, Jos. Blight, W. Grigg, F. T. Read, T. W. Newbold, S. H. D. Peryman, 0. 0. Harrison, A. Ashcroffc, E. P. Blamires, W. R. Tuck, Geo. S. Cook, E. D. Patchott, A. .1. Seamor, J as. Wilson, \Vi Watena Revva, Hauraki Paul, Firipi Rakena, Hamiora Kingi, Te> Tuhi Heretini, Hapeto. -llenata, Honp Hare, tho Rev. A. J. Reed (Taranaki). Messrs. Wylie,' Avery, Snaddon; Pari?, Cox, and Maslin (Prince Albert 'College) were also in attendance. The following officers were appointed: — The Rev. S. Griffith (secretary), the Rev. .1. Blight, (assistant secretary), the Rev. A. Ashcroft, (journal .secretary), the Rev. 15. P. Blamires (reporter to Outlook), the Rev. W. R. Tuck (reporter to daily press). Tho chairman heartily welcomed the Revs. W. Bock, E. P. Blamires, W. R. Tuck, and Geo. S. Cock, who were, present at the Auckland Synod for the first time. Letters of greeting were received from tho Revs. H. H. Lawry and W. G. Thomas, supernumerary ministers, and suitable replies Wero directed "to be sent.' Tho Rev. W. Gittos, superintendent, of Maori Missions, was heartily congratulated on the approaching jubilee of his entrance on the ' work of 'the ministry. . •y*a->y ! ' On the motion of the Rev. J. .1. Lewis a voto of sympathy with the Rev. W. .1. Williams in his recent bereavement was passed unanimously. ' The Rev. E. P. Blamires preferred a request to be allowed to visit England dui%■»•> 1906. It was unanimously resolved to ream- ] mend conference to grant the necessary per ! mission. -' j The Rev. E. D. Patched, was unanimously recommended to the ensuing conference for ordination. The Revs. A. J. Seamer and Hone Hare, probationers, engaged in Maori mission work, were recommended to be passed in their year. Reports from the. classical and mathematical tutor and from Lie theological lecturers of Prince Albert Training Institution were read. Satisfactory work was reported 'to have been done during the year. It was resolved to recommend that Mr. P. R. Paris be appointed to circuit' work, that Messrs. R. H. Wylie, W. W. Avery, and G. Snaddon continue at college for a fourth year, in order to enable them to continue university work, and that Messrs. Chas, Blair, Edwin Cox, and W. (i. Maslin continue for a second year. The financial sessions _ will be opened at half-past nine this morning. A large number of lay representatives are expected to attend. In the. afternoon the members will lake part in the annual prise-giving function i at Three Kings College. I
