A DROWNING ACCIDENT.
VERDICT AND RIDER.

Dunedin, Tuesday. At an inquest held at Beaumont on Alexander McGregor, drowned off the Golden River dredge at Roxburgh Gorge, the jury found death was due to falling from a dredge, caused by a defective handrail, and added a rider "That the dred'ge-mastcr should have seen to the railing immediately on receiving notice from the inspector." The jury expressed the opinion that the stanchions were not strong enough for the work required of them'.
