REBELLION IN DUTCH BORNEO.

CAUSE OF THE RISING

FIGHTING STILL PROCEEDING. By Telegraph.—Press Association—Copyright. Brisbane, August 25. . The Guthrie brings details of the insurrection in Dutch Borneo. The Sultan of Boni rebelled, and the Sultan of Gau supported him. The rising was caused through tho Dutch imposing trading restrictions on the natives. A Dutch force, including marines, and totalling 4000 men, assisted by four warships, proceeded against the natives. Two battles were fought, in both 'of which the Dutch were successful. Fighting, however, was still going on when the Guthrie left. ' The impression in Batavia was that the Dutch would be successful in pitched battles, but that the natives would retire inland, and that guerilla, warfare would be carried on. In one battle 250 natives and 14 Dutch were killed.
