SWIMMING THE CHANNEL.
MISS KELLERMAN RETIRES. By Telegraph Press Association.— London, August 24. Miss Annette Kellerman, the Australian lady champion swimmer; Burgess, the well-known English swimmer; and Horace Mew started on a swim from Dover to Calais this morning at seven o'clock. When 11 miles bad been covered Miss Kellerman was ahead, but on account of suffering from seasickness she had to retire. (Received August 25, 11.22 p.m.) London, August 25. Burgess and Mew abandoned the attempt to swim the Channel. Miss Kellermann swam 11 miles. Holbein started in the afternoon, and relinquished late at night, after covering 16 miles
