FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKETS. There lias been very little alteration in the local fruit and produce markets generally during the past week. The prices of Southern potatoes have continued to advance, but the high values asked have greatly reduced the demand and consumption. " In onions very little business was done, and consignments by the mail steamer Sonoma, from San ' Francises, due on Monday ' next, will arrive to a bare market. In the meantime, nearly the whole of the shipments for Auckland have already been sold. There is no change in (he values of grain and fodder worth mentioning. There was an excellent supply of vegetables at Ihe auctions to-day, principally cauliflowers, of superior quality, all of which realised satisfactory values. In dairy produce the supply of butter was very short Indeed, and farmers' makes sold at prices equal to and above factory kinds at auclion to-day. Stocks have now completely run cut, and the new season's supply being late in coming forward, the demand could not be satistied. " Eggs were in fairly good supply to an unlimited demand. Cheese was again so scarce I hat none was offered at auction. Poultry was in heavier supply than usual, but prices ruled high. The bulk of the turkeys sent in were on the light side, and prices ruled accordingly. Only a small number of young pigs were sent in, and the demand was strong at high rates. Generally the fruit market was strong. A shipment of bananas by the Taviuni, from Fiji, on Wednesday, was on the light side, and brought high prices. Shipments of Sydney citrus fruits by the Moana. from Sydney, on Monday, were lighter than the previous week, and prices advanced considerably. A moderate consignment of Tasmanian apples came to hand, and higher prices were realised. Local consignments of apples sold at better values than last week, where the quality was superior, but medium classes were neglected. The following were the ruling prices at the auction sales today:-
