Some time "ago the brewers raised the pric« of beer, and a number of publicans thereupon started a co-operative brewery, and secured large support by lowering the prices. The subsequent competition among the brewers brought the price dowa to 57s 6d per hogshead. The. secretary of the Brewers' Association says that before the battle ends beer will be sold at a penny a glass.
