CANTERBURY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
DECREASE IN BANKRUPTCIES. [BY TELEGRAPH,— ASSOCIATION.] Chkistcjiukch, Thursday. At the annual meeting of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce the retiring president (Mr. H. Quane) referred to the decrease in bankruptcies in the colony, and made out a strong ease for completing the Midland railway. Mr. A. L. Parsons was elected president for the ensuing year.
