AN EXTRAORDINARY LOAN,

The Lower Chamber of Sweden has authorised the Government to raise a loan of 100,000,000 kronin (about £5,500,000). Several members entered protests against the loan, on the ground that the raising of it did not harmonise with the pacific contents of the report of the Special Commission on the dissolution of the Union. The Norwegian Government has invited the Storthing to sanction the holding of a. referendum on August 13 on the question of the dissolution of the union with Sweden.
