The pilotage returns of the Victorian Marine Board, which, are regarded as the 'barometer of the shipping trade, show that the receipts for the month of June amounted to £2497, as contrasted with £2415 in the same month of the previous year. A decrease is shown in the returns for the last quarter compared with those of the same period in 1904, the figures being £8150 and £8681 respectively. The gross receipts from pilot fees for June amounted to £2592 6s Bd, and the expenditure was £2593 6s Bd. Of the latter sum £2144 went to sea pilots, and £203 to harbour pilots.
