Very limited supply of light weights. The average pricqi of Canterbury brands is 43d; North Island mutton. 4M; heavy-weight mutton, Canterbury brand Id, other North Island mutton 3Jd' per lb. Eiver Plate mutton is in largo supply, and is being strongly pushed lor sale. The lamb 'market is quiet, and is oversupplied. ' The average price of New Zealand Jamb, Canterbury brand, is si<l to bid. The beet market is depressed, supplies of Eiver Plate being heavy. The average price to-day of hindquarters' New Zealand beef is 3jd: forequarters, 22d. The butter market is very firm. The average price of choicest New Zealand butter today is 100s per cwt (nominal); Danish, 110s; Canadian, 935. The cheese market is firm, with good demand. The average price of finest New Zealand cheese to-day is 55s per cwt; white, 51s. , The hemp market is dull, and market prospects are uncertain. The price of New Zealand hemp, good fair Wellington grade, on spot to-day. per ton, is £26, and for July and August shipments £27. The price of Manila hemp, fair current grade, for Jnly and August shipment, is £36 10s.
