WAIHI NEWS.

[by telegravh.—own correspondent.] Waihi, Monday. So far nothing definite has been done to have the principal polling booth for the Bay of Plenty electorate removed from Tauranga to Waihi. More than half the votes of the constituency are recorded here. I understand an effort is to be made to have the change effected before the general elections. A blacksmith named C. Gospei was to-day fined 10s and costs 7s, for having worked at his trade on Sunday, the 28th ult. A very pleasing ceremony took place at the Primitive Methodist Church on Friday night, when Mr. Walters (choirmaster) was presented with a beautifully-bound hymnal, for tho valuable services lie had rendered during the past few months in organising and training the choir, which was now in a very efficient state. Mrs. Waters was presented with a handsome gold-mounted greenstone brooch.
