[from OUR own cokbespondexts.] te awamutu. THE monthly meeting of the Ngaroto Drainage fjoard was held op Saturday afternoon. The trustees present were: Messrs. T. Fry, D. Cavanagh, A. Edwards, and Geo. FinchMr. Cavanagh was authorised to have the necessary drainage work completed between the two small lakes. The following accounts were passed for payment:—A. Forkert, £15 lis; accident insurance on workmen, 10s; A. Jones, £1; Waikato Argus. 10s. A meeting of the trustees of the Mangahoo Drainage Board took placo on Saturday, there being present: Messrs. W. North (chairman), F. R. Gibson, and J. Ingham. Mr. Ingham reported that the men uad stopped, work at the upper end of the river, owing to the cold wcathei. The chairman was authorised to have some necessary work dotio near Te Awamutu township. The following accounts were passed for payment:— W. Leaver, £4 0a 6d; H. Taylor, £3 lis 9d; W. Ingham, £4 4s; J, Ross, £3 lis 9d; C. Hinton, £3 108: D. Remnant, £4 Os 6d. The usual meeting of the Puniu Domain Board was held in the secretary's (Mr. D. Bockott) office on Saturday last. There were present: Messrs. P. O'Connor (acting-chair-man). M. Turney. and A. H. Storey. The secretary reported that the fixed deposit at the Bank of New Zealand, had matured, and. also that one of the freehold mortgages held by the Board had been discharged. The. secretary was instructed to interview tho manager of the Bank of New Zealand, and have the money placed on fixed deposit for a term. WHANG AREI. Mr. ADAMS, of the Ruatnngata, Government forest nursery, reports:—Rain fell on nine days in April, equal to 2.101n., the greatest fall being l.lOin. on April 30. The maximum temperature registered was 82deg on the 2nd. and the minimum Sldeg. and 32deg. on the 22nd and 23rd respectively. WAIHL The funeral of the late Mr. John Garvey took place on Sunday, and was very largely attended. The procession was one of tho largest ever seen at Waihi. there being friends from Thames, Paeroa, and all part* of the Ohinemuri field. The Foresters. Hibernians,) Oddfellows, and Miners' Union all took part in the obsequies. The Rev. Father Brodie officiated.

The Anglican Church bazaar closed on Saturday night, the aggregate takings being £226.
