At an entertainment prorided ,by the To-kapuuii Ladies' Croquet Club, at the Takapuna Hall, on Friday evening, Mrs. W. J. Geddes was presented by the club with a beautiful salad bowl, in appreciation of her kindness in placing her law* at the disposal of the club during the season, and also with a silver-mounted toilette case, given by Miss Kirkwood for the best croquet player. The presentations were made by Mr. K. \V. Alison, M.H.R.

A pleasant function took place at the Auckland Central Telephone Exchange oh Thursday last, when the staff bade farewell to Miss AlcGuire, who is Revering her connection with the exchange Mr. Scager (officer-in-charge) made a presentation to Miss McGuire, on behalf of the staff, of t lundsome he water kettle and silver stand, as well as 9 serviceable salad bowl. Mr. Macaulay, on behalf of Mis* McGuire, suitably replied. The ladies of the staff also entertained Miss McGuire *'■ afternoon tea.
