i Mr. John Fitt was formally installed Mayoi of the borough of Famed on Wednesday evening last for the third year in succession' a'' a meeting of members of live Council in the Council Chamber. After the Council members hud signed the usual declaration, Mr. Fili. as outgoing Mayor, reviewed the work done by the old Council during the' past year. He' said that the valuation of the borough had increased from £34-,500 to £36,000, and that the total income for the year from all sources had amounted to over £6000. The health of the borough was a matter for sincere congratulation, as the residents within ii had only had one case of infectious disease among them during the past 12 months, and that one had been merely a child's complaint, scarlet, fever. The Mavor then ret hod, and the chair was then taken bv Mr. Briggs. After a cordial vote of thanks had been accorded to Mr. Fitt for the great amount of time and trouble lie had given as Mayor to the affairs of the borough, that gentleman resumed the chair, siguod the usual declaration, and, ma forcible speech, indicated what would be the programme and policy for the coming year. The members were subsequently entertained by the Mayor.
