FOOT PALL AT HOME.
AN "OFFICIAL " REPORT. [BY TI.I.KOKAI'H.— CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Friday. Ix a letter to Sir Joseph Ward, Mr. T. R. Donne'; who was Commissioner for New Zealand at St. Louis Exposition, and who is now in London, .says that lie went to sec the international Rugby game between England and Scotland. The play, lie says, was slow anil generally uninteresting. The forwards on each side were big and heavy. Scrums were frequent, and the English pack screwed th* scrums pretty much »' they liked, yet Scotland generally got the ball. The English backs were weak in clearing, am' were generally inferior to the Scottish bucks. The game was won by Scotland, who scored eight point- to nil. Richie, of New Zenland, played ui. excellent wing game for the winners. Mr. Donne has no hesitation in saying that on the form shown in this match a New Zealand representative team would have beaten either team easily.
