SHOPS AND OFFICES ACT.
THE PREMIER AND CLAUSE 3.
A PROMISE TO MOTE ITS REPEAL.
[BT TELF.fiRAfH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION".]
Wellington, Monday. A DEPUTATION 1 of email shopkeepers waited on the Premier to-day to ask that clause 3 of the Shops and Offices Act should not be enforced until Parliament hail considered the position. Tho Premier, in reply, asked by what authority tire Government could interfere with the process of law. However, he did not like the clause, and as soon as Parliament met he would move its repeal. As it stood, without exemptions and provisions, it was practically unworkable. Still he would, in the meantime, have to see that the law was enforced.
