London, April *28. With regard to the report that the Chinese Amban in Tibet aud his escort had been murdered at Batting, on the borders of China and Tibet, it is now stated that it was the Amban's deputy who was killed, not the Amban himself. Three French missionaries also were murdered. The crime was committed by Chinese anti-foreign fanatics.
