HAMILTON. A SPECIAL general meeting of the Hamilton Rowing Club was held on Friday. Mr. Farrar president, who presided, explained that the object of the meeting was to consider tho purchase of a. first-class racing four and the erection of a boatshed on tho banks of th» river. Mr. Swarbrlck moved, "That the idea be carried out. and suggested that £50 of the fuuds should bo provided by entertainments, which he undertook to arrange, and that the other £50 bo. raised by subscription, and, if necessary, by issue of debentures." The resolution was earned unanimously. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Swarbrick for his liberal offer. COROMANDEL. THE Coromandel Acclimatisation. Society's annual meeting was heui in the Council Chambers last evening (Friday), Mr. J. Reilly. president, in the chair. Tito annual report, and balance-sheet showed the society to 'bo in a good financial position, there being £36 Is 7d to the credit of the society. The report showed that the rainbow trout put into the different rivers in the district, were doing well, and that in the Waihou River fish 18m long had been seen. The reward tor the conviction of poachers had been fixed at £10. Efforts had been made during the past year to obtain a number of California!! quail but without success.
