PICNICS.
ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH PICNIC. The annual picnic of the congregation and Sunday-school of St. Andrew's Church was' held in Mr. W Thome's grounds at Lake' Takapuna on Saturday. The p.s. Osprcy made two trips to the Lake, leaving at tea a.m. and two p.m., conveying 011 the whole about 200 picnickers. A drizzling rain fell for the greater part of the day, thus inarring a pleasant day's outing. In spite of tha weather the committee got through a programme of sports for the children. Tiie superintendent of the Sunday-school (Mr. J. J. Kerr) was present, and had under him a good muster of Sunday-school teachers, all of whom worked hard to make the outing as pleasant- as possible under the circumstances. 'The picnickers returned home at twenty minutes past six*p.m. GAS COMPANY'S PICNIC. The first annual picnic of the Auckland Ga-> Company's employees took place on j Saturday, the site chos«Mi being Home Bay*. I Motutapu. Shortly after nine o'clock the p.s. Eugk>. specially chartered for the occasion, left town for the island with between lour and five hundred picnicker.- 011 board. Although the- weather was not all that itmight have been it did not interfere with 1 he excursionists, who seemed ben! upon enjoying themselves. On their arrival at Home Bay the pleasure-seekers, after indulging in lunch, participated in a programme; of sports and games, which had Ixjou specially arranged for the occasion. Before leaving, Mr. C. Suggate. at the request of the Picnic Committee, presented Mr. Roid. on behalf of his daughter .kean, with a handsome gold brooch, .suitably inscribed. Mr. Reid responded. As the Eagle left the island the picnickers gave three cheers for Mr. and Mis. Reid. The Eagle arrived in town at eight o'clock, when all present expressed their gratification to the committee, who had managed everything in an efficient and careful manner. Tho Garrison Band was in attendant throughout the day. MASTER PLUMBERS' PICNIC. Tho Master Plumbers' Association picnic which was to have been held at Arkle's Hal 011 Saturday, was postponed 011 account of the. weather.
