WAIHI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly sitting of thy Waihi Borough Council was held oil Friday night. The Treasury advised that the amount of gold duty placed to the credit of the Council for February was £978 5s 4d. The secretary of tlio Hospital and Charitable Board wrote stating that the hospital trustees having levied a contribution of £125 from the Charitable Aid Board, the latter asked, for the grant of £62 10s, which, with the accruing subsidy, completed the contribution of £1500 for the year ending March 31. Tho request was granted. The Finance Committee's report, recommended accounts for payment, amounting to £1240 2s lid (general), and £148 2s 8d (waterworks). The committee also recommended that the Mayor, town clerk, and engineer draw tip a report of the works authorised by the Council, also a general financial statement as to the present position of the borough, and that, the Mayor be authorised to call a special meeting of the Council when (he report i- ready. The report was adopted. Mr. J. 11. Walsh was appointed pound-
keeper.
