STATUE OF QUEEN VICTORIA.
[by TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Dcnedin, Sunday. The marble statue of the late Queen Victoria was hoisted oil to the pedestal on the corner of Victoria Gardens, on Saturday morning. The unveiling ceremony will be performed by the Governor on Anniversary Day. The statue is the work of Mr. Herbert Hampton, and ought lo satisfy the critical and please the people at large. The representation is of Queen Victoria. when just past her prime, as many of our colonists remember her, and without attempting to enter upon a detailed description of Mr. Hampton's work it might fairly be stated that it is noticeably faithful in form and expression. Two subordinate figures are to be added below the statue, 0110 representing Wisdom and the other Justice.
