W.C.T.U. CONVENTION.
[by TEL'£(J BATH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION*.] Wanganui, Saturday. The W.C.T.U. Convention received the reports of the late organisers. Miss Powell reported that during the nine months she ' had been working sho had travelled 2704 miles, paid 758 visits in the interests of 111© ✓ cause, raised £27 10s 2d, and collected for the New Zealand fund £43 2s 3d. Miss Hughes reported that during seven months of her work 22 unions and eight districts not having unions had been visited, and £85 6s had be«n raised. The organisers dwelt upon the great need of work, and stated that a number of country branches must collapse : unless assisted in this way. A motion of condolence was passed in regard to the death £ - ,of Mrs. Sievwright, of Gisbornc. A motion, proposed by the Napier district union, providing that New Zealand ofticers || fnould not hold office for a longer period , than five years, was discussed and lost.
