EPSOM ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of tho Epsom Road Board was held in the Newmarket Hail on Tuesday. Present: Messrs. W. Road Bloomfield (chairman), J. Edgerlcy, T. Granger, and A. McDonald. Mr. Sanford submitted a plan of a proposed now road through his property. It was resolved that tho matter bo referred to the Board's engineer. Messrs. Walker and Peak, solicitors, forwarded the deed of dedication of Cecil Road for execution by tho Board, which was duly signed, the Board's solicitors having stated that all legal requirements had been complied with. Mr. Grierson wroto requesting that tho rock 011 Epaom Avenue be removed, so as to afford him an entrance to his property. Tho fin-O-man was directed to attend to the matter. Mrs. Waller wrote calling attention, to the insufficient drainage of Mountain Road, botween Mr. Craig's property and hei own. It was resolved that Mrs. Waller be informed that the repairs to the pipes will bo attended to. A letter was received from Mr. Dignan requesting that Almorali Road be formed to afford access to his property. The matter was referred to the Works Committee. A petition was received from a number of ratepayers in Mountain Road, calling attention to the state of the road beivween tho Miserscordite Hospital and the Great Northern Brewery, and also that the name of tho road, now known as Aitiken's, Soceombo's, firth's, or Mountain Road, be definitely fixed. It was resolved that tho matters receive tho earliest attention possible. Tho One-tree Hill Road Board wrote requesting- the Board's co-operation in not accepting the dedication of the new road through Mrs. Foubistor's property, until the Board has obtained a proper crossing in substitution for tho footpath, of which pedestrians will, for the length of 66ft, be deprived by tho proposed road. Tho request was granted. In reply to the Board's letter re cattle wandering on tho roads in tho vicinity of tho prison reserve, Mr. Soverne wrote that as a largo portion of the reserve is leased to the City Council for stone-crushing, and all the unfeueed portion is in use by the samo body for the purpose of by old men, lie is, under the present circumstances, unable to assist tho Board in the matter. It was resolved that a request ho made to tho City Council to fence, or give the Board permission to impound all cattle wandering thereon. Tenders for carting for the year were received from .T. .T. Craig, Limited, J. Peach, A. IJiggiijs, and E. Pascoe. That of Mr. Pascoe, being the lowest, was accepted.

ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL. The fortnightly meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council was held at tlio Council Chamber last evening, when there wore prosent: The Mayor (Mr. D. A. .Sutherland) in the chair, Messrs. J. G1 a afield, C. MeLeod, W. 11. Tole, S. Barr, J. Howe, J. A'. Rishworth, J. Stoupe, and W. Colledge. It was resolved that the Council protect tho nightsoil contractor against actions brought by outside local bodies. It, was agreed that the contractor for asphalting be asked to continue similar works at his late contract price.; also that tho Streets Committee carry out such tarring and sanding as may bo deemed necessary. It was agreed to furnish, at the cost of £10, a spare room at the Council Chamber for tho uso of the Mayor and councillors. On the application of Mr. A. l'ittar, it was agreed to extoud the footpath in .Symondsstreefc to his gate. Complaints were received against the borough ranger (W McKeover), and it was agreed to consider them in committee after the meeting concluded. Dr. Frenglcy, health officer, complained that certain drainage required attending to, and desired an interview with the inspector. It was resolved that the inspector receive instructions from Dr. lTrengley. After considering a petition from residents in tho vicinity of May's Road, asking for footpath at that road, it was agreed to remove the rock near the cornor of Upper Alfred-street and May's Road. Mr. Rows gave notice to move at next meeting, "That tenders he called for the formation, tarring, and sanding of a footpath on the west side of Symonds-street, from Trafalgar-street to Auckland Road." Mr. Rislnvorth gave notice to move, "That a footpath be formed in Trafalgar-street from Symonds-streot to Grassick'w corner." It was agreed that a special meeting bo hold next Monday evening to consider and amend tho building by-law,
