The mail steamer Ventura having left San Francisco on December 23. thirty-two hours after contract time, is not expected to reach Auckland niitil to-morrow evening, and proceeds on to Sydney a few hours after arrival. The Union Company's steamer Manuka. Captain. Edwin Phillips, arrived from Southern and East Coast ports at 8 a.m. yesterday, and berthed at the Queen-it Wharf, Mr. Gillon. the purser, reports that the steamer left Dunedin on January 3. and called at Lyttelton on the 4th, Wellington on the sth, Napier on the 6th. and Gisborne on the 7th. leaving the latter port at 11 a.m. the same date, and reached Auckland a? above. Experienced strong southerly winds to Lyttelton: thence to Napier moderate to light southerly winds, fine weather to Oisborne. and light westerly winds and smooth seas till I arrival. The Manuka leaves lor Sydney at ' 6.30 p.m. to-day. THE APARIMA. The Union Company's steamer Aparima, Captain Colin McDonald, arrived from Calcutta, Singapore, and .lava at 4 a.m. yesterday, and after the usual medical and Cusi tom inspection berthed at the Queen-street Wharf. The steamer brings a large cargo of general Eastern produce, of which 4400 tons arc for Auckland. Of the voyage the purser reports: The Aparima left. From thence to arrival light variable winds and line weather were experienced. The Aparima leaves for Wellington and the South about the end of this week. THE NAVUA. Owing to the hurricane at Fiji the Union Company's steamer Navna did not, leave Sitva for Auckland until Saturday last, and is .not, therefore, due until Wednesday next. TRANSHIPMENTS. Transhipments per lonic, from London; Suffolk, from Glasgow and Liverpool: and Wima»ra. from Melbourne and Hobart, arrived from the South yesterday by the Mamik;*. The Kokoia, which arrived from Sydney vesterd.ay. brought transhipments per Himalaya, Grotova, and Salamis, from London: Moana. from Vancouver; Gneisenau and Stassfurt, from Germany: Changsha, from Japan; and Aramac, from Australia. THE MOKOIA. The Union Company's steamer Mokoia, CapU-tin R. E. Smith, arrived from Sydney at I~C p.m. yesterday, and after the usual medical and Customs inspection berthed at the. Queen-street Wharf. Mr. S. L. Wilson, the purser, reports that the Mokoia left Sydney Wharf at 1.40 p.m. and cleared Port Jackson Heads tit 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday last; breasted the Three Kings at 7.40 p.m. and rounded the North Capo at 11.35 p.m. on Salu.'dav, reaching the anchorage as above. The Mokcia. as usual, has made a. very fast run across the Tasman Sea, thus upholding her reputation for fast steaming.
