■AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB'S SUMMER MEETING. THIRD DAY. The Auckland Trotting Club's Summer Meeting was concluded on Saturday afternoon at Alexandra Pari;, Epsom. The weather was fine and the sport was well patronised. Mr. 0. F. Mark, the. club's secretary, ami the members of the Management Committee had made complete arrangements for the comfort and convenience of patrons, and the outing proved enjoyable to those present. The racing was good, arid the handicaps framed by Mr. ']?. W. Edwards produced some clo.se and interesting finishes, calculated to increase lie. popularity of trolling with the public.. During (lie afternoon a sum of £3605 Ids was passed through .the- totalizators in 10s tickets, bringing the amount handled for the three days up to £12,342 10s. The principal trotting race of (he day—the President's Handicap, run over (wo miles attracted a field of 10 starters. Albertorious was made favourite, and flattered the hopes of Ids admirers in the. early stages, but had no chance with the Australian mare Melha when it came to business. The daughter of Tuxedo was in charge when they entered on. the last circuit, and trotting freely and without, tlu> semblance of a break, she won easily by 20 lengths from Rebel Boy, the favourite 'being close up third. Onlookers wore treated to a stirring finish between Specialist; Rebel Boy, and Rushlight in the High-class Trot Handicap, for which event Specialist, was the one to claim most support from investors. The result proved' that speculators hail exercised good judgment, but they were given sonic cause for anxiety in the. closing stages, Specialist having to be pushed out at his best in the last few .strides to win by a neck from Rebel Boy, who finished very fast, beating Rushlight on the post for second money.
