A further proof of tlio values of property in the main streets of Wellington was afforded yesterday, when a corner cite, in Willis-street, midway between Mannersstreet and Lambton Quay, "was sold for a price •equivalent to £250 a foot. The land has frontages of 2Sft Sin to Willis-afreet, and 100 ft to Mercer-street, awl has on it a wooden -building, occupied by a, firm of jewellers. The s«le was made subject to this linn's lease, which expires in March, 1909. The bidding, which commenced at £5000, went on to £6100, at which price the property was knocked down to Mr. A. The large private hotel in Gbmnep-street, known as •'Tee 'Mansions,," was offered, at auction yesterday afternoon. Bidding "started at £4000, and' proceeded by bids of £100 to £4700. at. which price it was knocked down to Mr; D. Ross, commission agent. The budding is o* three storeys, in brick, and the land on which it stands is held under lease for 21 years, with the right of renewal. v "
