Berlin, November 29. A Bill- which has bcen-introduoedi in the Reichstag provides for a gradual increase of the Gorman ftj:my on a. peace footing t0"505,830. The preamble of the Bill mentions iihat the French army exceeds that) of Germany, though the population is 20,000,000 less.
By the law of March 25, 1899, the peace strength of the German army .was fixed at 495,500 men until X9Q3. The actual peace strength in 1903 was 581,621, but these figures must- have '-'included recruits. The peace strength of the French army is 522,243 moli in Francef 57,000 in Algeria; and 18,525 in Tuni»—or a grand total of 598,000.
