WAR CORRESPONDENTS.
RELAXATION OF RESTRICTIONS URGED. London, September 15. The Japanese newspapers are urging the relaxation of the restrictions placed op the -war correspondents at the front. They have been led to take this course by comments on the restrictions made in the Engi lish newspapers.
THE WINTER CAMPAIGN. JAPANESE BUYING PONIES. LARGE REINFORCEMENTS ORDERED. London, September 15. Japanese agents are negotiating for the purchase of a number of Montana and Canadian ponies, known as Cayuses. These ponies are very hardy, and are suitable for use in a winter campaign. A report from Tokio says that a telegram has been received from Field-Marshal Oyama ordering the despatch of 100,000 men and 225 guns by the end of September. ADMIRAL ALEXEIEFF'S RESIGNATION.
RETAINS THE VICE-ROYALTY. London, September 15. Advices received in France from St. Petersburg are to the effect that the Tsar has acceded to the request of Admiral Alexeieff, that he should be relieved of the post of commander-in-chief in Manchuria. He, however, is to retain the office of viceroy. General Kuropatkin is now to have the supreme* control of the military operations.
