The Union Company's steamer Manapouri, Captain George Hoiford, arrived from Sydney and the Islands at 5 a.m. yesterday, and after the usual medical and Customs^ inspection berthed at the Queen-street Wharf to discharge. Mr. H. C. Neill, tho purser, reports:—The Manapouri left Sydney on tue 24th nit. at 1 a.ni., arriving at Lantoka on the evening of the 31st. Called at Suva on the Ist inst. and.Levuka on the .3rd, arriving at Samoa the following Tuesday morning, leaving for Vavau at 10 a.m. the next day. Coached Vavau on the evening of the Bth, leaving on the 9th, and worked Haapai the same date, reaching Nukualofa the following morning. Strang winds, with a heavy southerly swell, were met with until arriving at Lantoka; thence to leaving Nulrualbfa variable winds, With smooth seas. The Manapouri brings a large consignment of fruit, also a quantity of copra. The Manapouri leaves for the Islands and Sydney on Wednesday evening next.

THE LOONGANA AT PORT SAID. The Union Steamship Company (says the Otago Daily Times) received cable advice on Saturday morning that the new turbine steamer Loongana, which left Glasgow on August 31. arrived at Port Said on the 9th inst., and was to resume her voyatjo to Melbourne the same evening after coaling. The Loongana has been built to run a fast mail and passenger fiervice between Melbourne and Launceston, and, being the first turbine steamer to appear in colonial waters, her arrival is beinff looked forward to with great interest by shipping people. Her performance on the voyage has so far exceeded expectations, and her arrival at the various ports of call en route will bo watched with interest. After leaving Port Said she will call at Aden, and after that at Colombo. She is due at Melbourne early in October, and We understand Mr. Mills, managing director of the company, leaves this week for Australia to be present on her Arrival.
