OPERA. HOUSE.

Fuileu's Empire Company at the Opera House is maintaining its high standard. The latest newcomer, Victor, the ventriloquist* is responsible for a great deal of merriment, and his puppets are admirably worked. Mr. Tod Calloway is very artistic in his rendering of all bis comic songs, and the audience will not be satisfied till he has contributed several items. The Empire male trio also cause an amount of enjoyment for their mirthful rendering of "The Gipsies' Laughing Trio" and "A Little Farm Well Till'd." Mr. Will Stevens gives nome clever female impersonations, and the McAuleys, Tillie Dunbar, Kate Malier, James Williams, Harry Hart, and others contribute to a greatly varied programme. BALL IN CHORAL HALL. The second annual ball in connection with "Miss Lawson's class was held in the Choral Hall last evening. Some 80 couples attended, and excellent music was provided by Mr. Meredith's band. A strong committee, consisting of Messrs. Noonan, Dalgetty, Afev. Nolan, Booker, Kelly, Irwin, Grautville, and Lawson, worked hard to ensure a successful evening.
