AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.
Air ordinary meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon, there being present: Mr. J. T. Julian (chairman), the Hon. E. Mitchelson, Messrs. W. J. W. Philson, A. Allson, J. M. Laxon, W. J. Parker, J. A. Walker, Q. W. Basley, C. Grey, W. J. Napier, and A. E. Glove:. - Orakei Cattle Landing: A letter was read from the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association in reference to the proposed Orakel cattle landing and expressing a hope that the Board would consent to the condition 'on which the natives had agreed to give the land, viz., that they be allowed to ship and land a certain quantity of stock and produce free of charge. It i was. stated that the amount of wharfage dees would bo very small. It was resolved to remit the charges to the extent -of 100 tons of produce a year. i , ■, Gas Company's Lease: The Auckland Gas Company applied, for a 50 years' lease of allotment No. &0, Beaumont-street, at a rental of £lft a year, subject to Improvements to the amount of £400 being effected. The sum of £6 6b (one quarter's rent in advance) was forwarded. The lease was granted in the terms of the application. A Contractor's Claim: A letter was received from Messrs. Neumegen and 'Elliott, on behalf of Mr. G. E. T. Tuck, claiming the sum of £2829 10s Id as balance due for work done, loss of profit, etc. It was stated that Mr. Tuck claimed that he had been a loser through the Board itself completing his dredging contract. The letter was referred to the Works and Tariff Committee. , Works and Tariff Committee: The following recommendations of the Works and Tariff Commute 3 were adopted :—That the Waitemata Boating Club be granted a site for a boatshed on the sea slope of the wall near Wynyard Pier; ' that tenders be called for the western extension of Hobson-street Wharf and for the work on the Hallway Wharf; that Messrs. Seagar Brothers' tender (£2909) be accepted.for boilers for dredger No. 121; that the' site now oocupied by Messrs. Bagnall Brothers be leased by auction for five years at an upset rental of £60 per annum; that the present tenancy of the Devonport ferry refreshment-rooms be extended for one year. . Suction Dredger: Several tenders for a suction dredger (some of which quoted alternative prices for different grades) were opened and referred to the Works and Tariff Committee, the engineer to report to the committee.
