THE GOLDFIELDS.

■ ■ o OLD HAURAKI : AND, BUNKER'S : HELL G.M. CO. The Bunker's Hill Gold Mining Company : have given notice to the Old Hauraki Gold Mining Company to terminate the present pumping agreement in one mouth, as from September 7 last. The latter company have accepted the notice. Under the agreement the Bunker's Hill Company are at present paying a monthly drainage fee to the Old Hauraki Company. v WAIHI EXTENDED G.M. CO. The manager of the Waihi '.. Extended Gold Mining Company, reports that owing to the connection made with the Grand Junction drive from the rise, a splendid current of air has been obtained which is a benefit to the men driving on the reef. The drive) which is on the footwall portion of the reef, is in a distance of 18ft. The ore, which is the width of the face, is a strong body of quartz, heavily mineralised, and it is maintaining its quality and appearance. This drive ' will be pushed forward as speedily as can be, so as to enable the manager to get a' winze sunk as soon as possible. Preparations for sinking the shaft will be taken in hand in the meantime, and as soon as a supply of shaft timber is at the mine sinking operations will be undertaken. KURANUI G.M. CO. In the Kuranui Gold Mining Company s mine the new leader on the hillside of the crosscut has, opened out to > about 12in. There are now two loads on hand from this quarter, this quantity having been kept separate so as to find out its ; value. No gold was seen when breaking it out, though this may be" accounted for owing to the quartz being of a rusty brown appearance, making it difficult to . see gold in it. The two loads should make a very good test. Another stope has been I started about > 20ft back from tho face. When breaking down the leader oz Monday last, nice dabs of gold were Ba*»* with in two or three pieces of the stone, proving the lode to be gold-bearing. Very little has been done on the Shotover reef on the Moanataiari side of the crosscut. On the hillside the end of the drive on the shaft lode has been broken into; The manager believes that in another 15ft or so the latter will junction with the No. 1 leader and the Shotover reef, when he hopes to meet with, something good. : NEW UNA G.M. CO. In the New Una Gold Mining Company's mine, ino. 1 lead in the rise from the stopea above where . the former hauls of specimens were obtained, is maintaining its proper course. It is considerably disturbed, and blows of quartz of low value are frequently met with. The directors have applied to the May Queen Extended Gold Mining Company for permission to work from the Litter company's low level in the Adelaide section into their own ground.
