LACROSSE.

The championship matches will be con- ! tinued this afternoon on the Auckland Domain, the matches being Shamrock T..Ponsonby (No. 1 ground) and Grafton v. Suburbs (No. 2 ground). The first-mentioned contest Bhould result in a fast, even game, and a* both teams have been putting in plenty of practice in the mornings, a high standard of play (should be attained. On form Suburbs should beat Grafton, and thus reverse the result of the previous match. ... .• The play of Shamrock against Suburbs last Saturday was the best that they have yet shown. The attack freely indulged in the passing game, making play attractive, and had a shade the best of matters all through. Suburbs were fortunate in making a draw notwithstanding that on paper they were the better team; A. Bartlett played a clever, heady game, and really accounted for two goals. . Murdoch is fast acquiring a knowledge of throwing. The road to perfection is through, practice. O. Ward played his usual strong game. He was the only player on bis side to use the body check with success. Saunders (Shamrock) is developing into a first-class centre. A feature of his play was judicious passing. Flyger, wing attack, played a sound game, promptly passing to his homes. Miller took almost everything passed to him, but seemed at a loss as to what he: should do with the ball—an important point. Mcintosh (Grafton) played a brilliant game in goal. He stopped all sorts cf shots. Whyte handled his stick like a veteran. Amongst the new men playing for Pan* sonby, Malavey (wing attack) was very serviceable, and made several clever openings. The managing council have drawn up a programme of sports, to be held on July J. They comprise long, and goal, throwing, lacrosse races, an exhibition match, etc. It in to be hoped that all players will take an interest in these annual sports, which are in vogue wherever the game is played. The scoring is by points, and all competitors must be clad in their olub uniform, including the rubber shoes. Entries close on Thursday next (the 30th) at eight p.m., with the hon. secretary, Mr. F. Brown, at the Sports Clubrooms.
