Mr. Cope-land was, born ais Hall, in York* shire, in 1839, and arrived in Australia in 11357. He was member of the Mining Board of the colony from 1874 1877, and entering Parliament in the latter year, hi remained a member until 1900, when he became Agent* General. He ' at, ' various tiffins held the offices of Minister for Works and Minister for Lands. He was a very active r ro^rosen«';; : tativu of New South Wales in London.
