The honorary degree of doctor of civil law has been conferred by the University of Oxford upon Dr. Davidson, Archbishop of Canterbury ; tha French Ambassador to Britain, M. Cambon; the Viceroy of India, Lord Guidon; Lord Tennyson, and the Right Hon. H. H. Asquith, K.C. i It has also conferred the degree of doctor of science upon Mr. Marconi, the inventor of wireless telegraphy, and Dr. Horace Lamb, who was professor of science at Adelaide University from 1875 to 1885, and has ben the professor of mathematics at Owen's College, Manchester, since 1885.
