[tit TM*3IWPH.—OWN cbftBSS^NOESt.] '! '"• • _ Thames, Friday. The annual meeting of the Thames branch of the Auckland District Educational Institute was held last evening, Mr. J. Fisher presiding. The report stated that important business had been transacted during the year. Special mention was mad* of the excellent service rendered to the branch by Mr. W. H. Newton, and on its adoption it Was' resolved to record in the minutes Of the branch grateful appreciation of Ml*. Newton's services. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. W. H. Nekton;. secretary- and treasurer, Mr. S. H. Ferguson; committes of management, Messrs. Marsdoii, Fisher, and Hewitt. The following resolutions were passed :—"That the Thames branch iuapect/iilly draws the attention of the Managing Committee to the fact that returns required by the truant officer ir£ excessive." "That this branch is ot opinion that no undue obstacles should be placed ift the Way of obtaining a superannuation Scheme, and favours the tentative acceptance of a modified scheme.
