AUCKLAND CUSTOMS RETURNS.

A COMPARATIVE STATEMENT.

SATISFACTORY INCREASES.

Tub appended comparative tables, which show the amounts collected in Customs duties and general Customs receipts at Auckland during the financial year to March 31 last, have been placed at our disposal by the Collector of Customs. It will be seen that under both heads there were substantial increases in the revenue, and it is gratifying that the increase is even greater than it wa£ for the calendar year of 1903. when the total amount of Customs duties collected was £636,7-10, an increase on the previous year of £32,226, while the total receipts for 1903 (calendar year) were £689,753, an increase on the previous year of £37,999. In both instances the figures for the financial year just closed show a considerable advance on those figures. Of the £645,751 collected in Customs duties during the past financial year £635 lis 9d was under the preferential tariff. CUSTOMS DUTIES.
