Paris, April 16. Major Maechand, of Fashoda fame, not being included in the mission following General Kuropatkin's operations in the Far East, has resigned.
It is rumoured that the Cabinet was unwilling that he should meet and fraternise with Louis Bonaparte. The Cabinet will punish Major Marchand with a month's confinement for writing to the newspapers, and thereafter will accept his resignation.
