BIG FIRE AT FEILDING.

A fire occurred at twenty minutes to three on Sunday morning, on the premises of Mr. Wilson, tailor, Kimlioltou Road, later 011 spreading to Messrs. I'ouso and Hurreli's carriage factory, and the offices of Messrs. Tustin and Mackerras, land agents, Mr. Irewin, solicitor, and Mr. Fit/.herbcrt, also a solicitor. All were totally destroyed. Fortunately, there was no wind, otherwise the fire would have swept the block. Part of the stock of Messrs. Rouse and Hurrell was saved. Mossm. Collins Bros.' auction rooms narrowly escaped. The new tiro police corps assisted the brigade in removing goods, etc. The insurances on Messrs. Rouse and HurreU's property are?— Buildings, £500, and stock £200, in the Victorian Insurance Company; Mr. Wilson's stock, £100 in the Guardian; other premises were insured in the Standard office for £300. Messrs. Kongo and Ilurrell's estimate of loss over insurance is £150, and Mr. Wilson's £50.
