[BY PRESS, ASSOCIATION.] Napier, Wednesday. Mr. A. Tußjrntix,. S.M., who has been transferred to the" Wanganui district, was last evening farewelled by members of the legal profession. He was presented with a silver tea and coffee service and hot-water jug, HokitikAj Wednesday. During the big . flood in the South, a Maori pa at Jacob's River was completely submerged, and a number 01 natives had to be rescued in boats. One Maori woman swam some distance to save her children, who ■ had been cut off by the flood waters. Settlers suffered considerable .personal loss. : Wellington, Wednesday. Business yesterday and to-day at the conference of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association was chiefly confined to the reading of papers;and discussions thereon. v Proceedings are held in camera.; : . , Dunedin, Wednesday. A brass tablet has been set up" at, the hospital to the: memory of the medical men who died while in the service of the institution. It bears the names of Drs. Tighe, McAra, and G. I*. Brown.;
