SUDDEN DEATH AT MOUNT EDEN.

George Fisher, aged ; Ki, for many years turncock to the Mount Eden Road Board, was in the Road Board'is offices yes* terday in the course of bis duties. ; Whß". he was discussing the drafting of an advertisement! in regard to cutting oil the water,) he was seen to let his head fall on his chest* He gave two or three gasps, and then expired. Messrs. J. Webley and Wilson* clerks, who were present, immediately went to his assistance, and Dr. Robertbn was sent for. On arrival this gertleman confirmed Messrs. Wilson and Webley's fears by pronouncing life. to be extinct. ; :f/ The body was then removed to the home of the deceased, Bourne-street, Mount Eden. Dr. 0. Williams, who had attended the late Mr. Fisher for heart disease, was, ho the police were informed, prepared to certify that the cause of death was angina pectoris. The coroner (Mr. Gresham) was informed of the incident, and being satisfied as to the cause of death decided that an inquest' was unnecessary. On seeing . several members of the Road Board, it was ascertained that they regard Mr. Fisher's demise as an irreparable loss. "He was," said one gentleman, '£• servant of the Board tor a greitt number of years, and we shall find it very diffioult indeed to replace him." It was also learned that the late Mr. Fisher died as he would have chosen— harness, so to speak. His industry and trustworthiness were most readily testified to, and the members unanimously regarded him as an upright and honourable man, enjoying the respect of th* Board and of the ratepayers.
