The Customs duties for the foils bl Auckland during February last constituted a. record, being £66,432 4s 6d, as compared with £65,231 139 6d ih October, 1903, the next largest amount. As compared with the corresponding month of last year, the returns show that there* lias been an increase of imports to the extent of £75Mj ;the precise figures being £66,432 4a 6d, Agwiirt £58,8 6 3» fid for February, 1903. The beer duty j shows a decline of £93, the collections for February, 1904, being £1723 12s lid, while , in February, 1903, they reached £1816 15s sd. The exports of butter show a marked increase, the shipment last month being 13,562cwt.» valued at £62,674, Whilst in February 903, the totals Were 4452cwt., valued at £20,37,4. Cheese also shows an increase, the exports being 74cwt.,_ valued ; at £181, against 13cwfc,, valued at £u5, dur- ; ing Febrtiaiv, 1903. Other returns for Feb- ; ruarv. 1904," are: Grain Oats, 350 bushels, ; value £38 wheat, 120 bushels, value £19. ; Frozen lamb, 198 carcases, 57cwt-., value ; £127, as against the following figures for . I February 1903:—10,875 carcases, 33060wt., ; value £6058. There were no exports of •' frozen beef or rnutton last month, whilst j .i the returns for February, 1903, show: , Frozen beef, 4033cwt., value £5020, frozen mutton, 4052cwt., value £4767. In February last 51 tons of potatoes were exported, valued at £187. There is a substantial increase in the export of gold for the past month compared with February 1903, the total being 15,99402., value £56,026, m com* pared with the previous total of 13,2160z., Value £46,360. Silver exports have also Increased, the total being 66.4480«,, value £6721, while in February, 1903, the figures were 56,81802., representing £5668.
