The Auckland Weekly News does more to advertise New.'Zealand than any other journal, and the present issue, which is specially adapted for posting to friends abroad by the outgoing 'Frisco mail, more than maintains the high standard attained by previous numbers. In view of the advent of the reduced postage rates for newspapers recently inaugurated, the proprietors of the News are issuing an 'exceptionally attractive number, in which will be found some of the finest pictures yet published in the colony. One of the chief features of the issue is a series Oi photographs, specially taken for the News, illustrating Auckland's splendid harbour. Double-page panoramas depict the wharves and shipping from different points of vantage, and views token from a ship's masthead give some entirely new and picturesque effects. Among a fine collection of war pictures will be found some excellent full-page drawings by the News' special artist, illustrating the most tragic and important events which have happened since the commencement of hostilities between Russia and Japan. Scenes at the New Zealand Rifle Association's championship meeting, which has just been, concluded at Trentham, include excellent groups of the competing teams, scenes in the firing line,- and a portrait of Sergeant Ohing, winner of the rifle championship. The sports held at' Alexandra Park on Saturday last, under the auspices .of the New Zealand Polo Association, concluded a most successful tournament, and all the principal events are well illustrated. Numerous other groups, and portraits, including the recent floods at Opotiki, East Coast station scenes, Auckland Grammar School swimming sports, the North Island Main Trunk'railway, and orange culture in North Auckland, together with the usual amount of high-class letterpress, contribute to a most attractive number, and a publication 'which for general public interest stands unrivalled in the colonies. The Auckland Weekly News is now issued, and may he obtained from all agents and runners. V •
