London, January 26. Lloyd's Register shows that 632 mercantile steamers, aggregating 1,165,503 tons, and 65 sailing vessels, aggregating 25,115 tons, were launched in the United Kingdom last year, this being the lowest output since 1897; while 549 steamers," aggregating 798,205 tons, and 404 sailing vessels, aggregating 156,908 tons, were built abroad, chiefly in the United States and Germany.
