THE MINERS' UNION.
INSTRUCTIONS BY WAIHI G.M. CO.
ALL WORKMEN MUSI JOIN. [BY TELEGKAPII.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Wednesday. A stir has been made among the miners in consequences of instructions having been issued by the Waihi Gold Mining Company, that, in accordance with the Arbitration Court's award, all men employed in the batteries and mine must be members of the local Miners' Union. Unless the men employed can show a ticket of membership when called upon by the foreman in charge, their services are to be dispensed with. A very large number of men employed in tho mine and batteries are not connected with the union, but since the instructions were issued a large number have joined. The present strength of the union is between 600 and 700.
